As part of our research we conducted phone interviews with some 20 consulting companies and law firms that are active in the outsourcing space. Through in-depth phone interviews that lasted between 45 and 90 minutes each we tried to drill down the issues that are mostly relevant to companies considering HR outsourcing today. Additional information about consultants' experience in the domain, industry expertise and client base was obtained through internet research or supplied by the consulting companies themselves.

The goal of the study was to answer the following questions:

  • The relationship points in outsourcing in which companies need outside advice
  • What kinds of advice are often overlooked
  • How is the view of BPO for HR different from other forms of outsourcing
  • Who should be on team on the buyer's side
  • What distinguishes your company as a provider
